How long do the effects of EECP last?

Last updated: October 2026 · Cardio Pulse Berlin

In short

In studies, the effect lasted for months to years, documented for up to three years.

Registry
Stable for two years
Randomised trial
Three years, 120 patients
Meta-analysis
85 per cent with less angina
Repeat course
Repeat course possible

What do the studies show?

  • International EECP registry (treatment data from many centres): improvement stable over two years.
  • Randomised study 2025: three years, better exercise tolerance, fewer events.
  • Meta-analysis 2015: 85 per cent with less angina.

Why does the effect last?

What the body builds itself remains: fine collateral vessels and a more elastic inner vessel wall.

What influences the duration?

The underlying condition, lifestyle and medication. Studies describe groups, and the course in an individual case can differ.

How do we help you?

At the Cardio Check-Up after the EECP therapy we compare your values with those from the start. If needed, we plan a refresher course.
